Have you ever traveled somewhere and just completely fallen in love with it? You didn't just love being there - exploring, enjoying the sights, sounds and tastes - but you wanted to share that experience with your inner circle. So you returned, but this time you brought friends or family and you all lived and breathed new experiences. You're also "the source" when people need information about what to do and where to go when they travel to your favorite spots. You are an unofficial ambassador and we'd love to hear and share your stories and insight.
Besides being born in Japan (Suginami-ku to be exact), as far back as I can remember, there were Japanese influences in my life. I remember eating homemade sushi before attending first grade. I remember watching poorly dubbed Godzilla movies and dubbed/subbed anime on VHS. As I grew up, I continued to be interested in Japanese things like toys (robots!), ninja, and anime, but also books, concepts and ideals.
After working my way up the IT ladder in 2001, I returned to Japan for the first time and have been returning ever since. With more than 20 trips under my belt (some for work, more for leisure lately), I wanted to help share some useful tips and reference guides to help people traveling there for the first time. Contrary to popular belief, Japan is still not that English-friendly, and if you don't do some extra planning, you could miss out on many experiences that would actually be in reach. Most of my content will be focused on Tokyo, but I'll also include other cities/prefectures as well.
